Equality and Diversity Board
Engagement in the North East Equality & Diversity Board
The North East Equality & Diversity Board is a multi sector collective which aims to produce a welcoming, inclusive and fair region through the production of a regional strategy and action plan. The board works across sectors to ensure that they are all able to address inequality and achieve its key objectives:
- Maximising the economic benefits of equality and diversity for the region.
- Promoting the social benefits of social cohesion, equality and diversity.
- Strengthening the engagement of under-represented individuals and groups in regional policy making.
- Raising public awareness of, and developing information, advice and guidance on rights and responsibilities in respect of equality and diversity.
VONNE has been an active member of the North East Equality & Diversity Board and will continue to do so through and with the Coalition. The Equalities Coalition will convene the Board's 'Capacity Building & Voice' task group and will actively participate across all of the other priority areas to ensure there is a strong voice for and with excluded communities.
